A Day at the Zoo

Since we've got great Fall weather to enjoy, Matt and I went to the Hogle Zoo. I love animals, so the zoo is one of my favorite places.
We sure had quite the adventure. First I almost got my head bitten off by a lion...If it hadn't been for the glass separating us, I'm sure this little guy would have tried to throw monkey poop at us!
Matt really liked the monkeys! Maybe a bit too much...
...and I did my best gorilla impression to fit in...
After fleeing the monkeys, we ran into Casper the "Ghost of the Bayou". Our Santa Clause friend at the front gate had told us how there are only 10 albino alligators in existence. He also said that they are all male, so they are definitely on the path to extinction. Poor fella! We were happy we came when we did though, because Casper was getting ready to leave the zoo on Wednesday.

Most of the animals are in cages or enclosures of some nature, so I was shocked when I came face to face with this cute animal on the loose.
...Then a bald eagle just landed on my head...
...Luckily for me some elephants showed up and scared the eagle away before it clawed my eyes out.And while the elephants were getting a drink we snuck out safe and sound! It was a great day at the zoo though!

Where Did the Week Go?

Somehow despite having a 6 day weekend, I never found the time write anything on my blog. Then again, maybe it wasn't a lack of time, just a lack of something interesting to write about.
Working for the evil postal service as a transitional employee they technically fire, and then re-hire me every 3-9 months and then give you a mandatory 5 day unpaid break. It's weird, and actually really stupid, but it gets them out of having to offer us benefits. I guess it's good to know that some aspects of our government is trying to save money, I just wish they didn't have to screw me over in order to do it.
I tried to get a lot of scrapbooking done this week. I haven't done it in so long because I'm so behind that it is too intimidating. It is also a very timely process, probably requiring on average 1 hour a page. In the past couple of days I probably finished 15 pages, so I'm pretty happy about that.
I also ended up going to the gym quite often, sometimes even twice a day. I'm kind of a weirdo and actually enjoy going to the gym. It is one of my favorite things to do when I'm bored. That is probably a good thing because one of my other favorite things to do when I'm bored is eat...especially ice cream.
Because I scrapbooked in the living room, I watched a lot of t.v. too this week. (I have to have something else to focus on when I'm having a brain cramp.) I love having a DVR, if you don't have one, get one...life will never be the same for you again. I had the DVR loaded with my favorites, such as: "The Biggest Loser", "The Hills", the new "90210", "House", "King of Queens", "America's Got Talent", and "America's Funniest Home Videos". It was nice to catch up on all my favorites.
Recently Matt and I have taken up golfing. So on Friday we hit the driving range and the putting greens. We bought a set of clubs to share a few weeks ago, and have hit the driving range 5 or 6 times in the last month. We're trying to improve our driving and short game first, but hope to hit the course for 9 holes before it gets too cold. I never thought I could be into golf, but surprisingly it is a lot of fun. Plus it's something that we can both have in common where one of us isn't a ton more advanced than the other.
And as far as I can remember it, that was my week. It was nice having a couple days off, and at the time it even seemed a little too long and I kind of wanted to get into work. But now that it is Sunday and I have to work tomorrow, I'm totally dreading it! Can't wait for my next mandatory firing!!

Arghh Matey!

I know the day is almost over, but I didn't want to let it pass without mentioning that today is "Speak Like a Pirate Day". So dust off that wooden leg, put on that eye patch and really get in the true spirit of it! And if you need more inspiration you could try drinking a lot of rum, it seemed to be the thing to do in the movie!

Ride Along

On Saturday I got to ride along for a few hours while Matt was working. For those of you who don't know, Matt works for Hadco driving a dump truck and pup. I always knew he had a hard job, but I got a new perspective riding along with him.
His truck and pup can hold 32 whopping tons worth of material! Now that explains why trucks always move so slowly!! And not only does the truck weigh a ton (figuratively, not literally) but he then have to maneuver sharp corners through the uneven dirt job sites avoiding all of the little wood markers. I didn't think it was a big deal if he hit one, but apparently if one wooden marker gets bumped or ran over they have to bring a few expensive pieces of machines out to redo the whole job site! Talk about performing under pressure!! And probably the hardest part of the job is just driving on city streets with all of the CRAZY Utah drivers!!
I'm glad I got to see my man in action and get at least a small idea of what his work day is like. He's such a hard worker!!
Matt's old truck with Phoenix Construction. He's with Hadco now, but his truck is pretty much
the same so I thought it would work to illustrate how big it is.

Ego Boost

My mom sent me a funny email with the title "When you're feeling really stupid...read this" It had various quotes from some famous people that I thought were pretty funny. These were my favorites..

"Whenever I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd love to be skinny like that, but not will all those flies and death and stuff."
---Mariah Carey

"Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life."
---Brooke Shields, during an interview to become spokesperson for federal anti-smoking campaign.

"I've never had major knee surgery on any other part of my body."
---Winston Bennett
,
University of Kentucky Basketball player

"Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country."
---Mayor Marion Barry
,
Mayor of Washington D.C

"I'm not going to have reporters pawing through our papers. We are the president."
---Hillary Clinton

"I love California. I practically grew up in Phoenix."
---Dan Quayle

In September 1994, Alabama's Heather Whitestone was selected as Miss America 1995.
Question: If you could live forever, would you and why?
Answer: "I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever."
---Miss Alabama

Well it certainly made me feel better about myself, hope it did for the rest of you too!!
P.S--I don't know why some quotes came across as different sizes, they were all done in the same font. Crazy blog!

Scary

The thought of having a child already scares me, and after this I'm even more scared to have one. I at least thought that if Matt and I ever decided to have a kid that we'd at least make a cute one. Well, I guess I was wrong. Meet my future children...

Little Baby Boy

Little Baby Girl

SCARY!!! Don't be expecting to see any babies out of me for a long while. I'll already be having nightmares about these kids, and they aren't even real!
